Mike, glad you liked the tune. This was done a while ago so some of the details are fuzzy. Here is what I do recall: The main riff was with my ES335, the main amp was a Peavey Classic 50, miked with an SM57 (naturally). I also used a Strat in the breakdown, you can hear the tonal difference, still probably the Classic 50. The trippy backwards sounding part was done by taking part of the lead and sampling it in Reason (I think the NNXT device), triggering it via a keyboard, set to play backward. That is why it sounds backwards AND fast (hitting it in a higher key). I also used Reason for some of the rythmic sounds, like the chorus tom beat, intro and outro beats. I probably processed the tracks using some plugins in Cubase, typically for reverb and delay and compression. The drums were probably Steinberg LM4, but I do not use this anymore. And of course I typically rework and edit tunes in Cubase to make the arrangements better. I remember letting a firend hear an early version, and he said, that part goes on too long.. so I just made it shorter - you gotta love digital editing. That's all I recall. It was a fun tune to do, still one of my favorites.

Frank,

great tunes - especially Saturated. I really like the tones in this song. What guitars, effects, amps were used? Appreciate an e-mail back.

Albert,
I no longer have the Zoom. It is a great unit but I am probably not the best person now to ask for support. Sorry...

Randy,
Thanks for the positive feedback. I no longer have the Zoom but sure enjoyed it while I had it. It is a great unit, not complaints at all. I had just become so acustomed to doing things on my computer DAW that not having the visible editing ability was not for me, I just love seeing all the clips, editing out mistakes, not to mention all of virtual instruments available. You enjoy the Zoom, I still listen to these recordings and love the guitar sounds I got, very crunchy and present. It is very easy and intuitive. I have heard good things about the Korg as well, I'm sure this is a great unit, but more $ than the Zoom.
Thanks again for the nice comments, blessings to you.

Dr. Frank Markow, sir

How long , now, have you had the Zoom HD16CD and how is it holding up? Have you moved on to a different recorder or has the Zoom been flawless in performance and maintenance free ? Ive nearly fried my eyes and brain doing around 40 hours research on "which" all-n-one to buy and have settled down to either a Korg D3200 or the Zoom HD16CD.

BTW I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your songs, mixing, engineering that you posted a link to from a forum topic "you" started on the Zoom.

Im nearly 60 and have recorded since I was around 12.

A W E S O M E ! And thanks in advance for any answers you offer me. Randy

I have not played the Juno Stage, but the demo sounds on the Roland site sound excellent, particularly the bread-and-butter keyboard sounds (piano, e-piano, wurly, etc.). It does have semi-wighted keys, a big plus over the MO. But, it is not a workstation, so you can not build up arrangements. I think if you want a live keyboard this is very good, more of a players keyboard. If you want to build tracks, studio stuff, create new sounds, the MO is probably better. It does have midi out so will be able to trigger any midi device like the Exteme.
